Looks like October for the 1:18 scale Jetstream Blue. Looks like Jada is going for a "factory" look this time instead of the cartoonish large wheels and wacky proportions of the C6 Z06's (which I bought anyway because the prices and paint jobs are great).
Can't wait to see the treatment of the supercharger under glass on the hood. AAaaaaaaahhhhh..... Santa: wakeup, we're gittin' close!
Vetteman, thanks for the heads-up! Too bad that the 1/24 scale models have gotten pushed back to 2009, but it will definitely be interesting to see if Jada shifted more to a stock look on the 1/18!
Vetteman Wrote:knock knock knock... Hellooooooooooooooooo? Any diecast fans there? Jada has the pix and item #'s for the ZR1's. Looks like an "earnest" job for a toy company. I'll take one asap.
That is a very good sign! They're still claiming an early Januear delivery though. It's really too bad it wasn't here in time for Xmas - they would have sold a million!
The 1:18 ZR1's are ready to fly (quite litteraly as mine are coming from Calif to Pa via UPS) in Vic Red and JS Blue. I'm glad they chose to do the big ones first. Otherwise I wind up with the early 1:24's as well as the 1:18's . For anyone interested, DieCastFast has 'em at a decent discount and decent shipping. My first dealing with them, but they seem pretty good. Should get mine by later this week.
Vetteman Wrote:My first post! It took the possibility of a new ZR1 release to get me web surfing again - which is what directed me to this forum. I do hope that JADA will treat it a bit more "reality based" compared to their other products. I do admit , though that I would buy it either way. And I'll give JADA credit for one thing: You can actually FIND their product at STORES !! Not that I mind all the online places to buy from, but, I do enjoy walking into a Target or Walmart and seeing a new Vette sitting on the shelf, pick it up, check it out , kid in the candy shop style.
Hi Vetteman,
Just wanted to comment on Jada's ZR1, Jada's Team has done a lot as far as keeping quality die cast materials and details. Of course you can't compare to high end die cast like Auto Art and others, but Jada even asked GM to Truck in a brand new ZR1 to Jada so the designers can take pictures of the real car. Just to make sure they did not miss any details.
I don't know many die cast company that will go that far into making their diecast cars.
If you log in Jada Toys in the VIP member side you can check out the photo gallery of the ZR1
Very interesting thread you got here. I'm still reading everyone's post.
Any comments on their new GT-R?
I too would like to commend Jada and while they may not be producing an AUTOart-type model, that's not what they do! What they provide is a great value in a model with great paint and decent detail. Not to mention they're the only ones producing the model! I'm actually glad they got the exclusive. Would you want to pay AUTOart $150 for a $50 model? Not me!
Since I'm not computer savvy enough yet to post pics off a digital camera, I'm running back to this nice place to just "talk about" my recent ZR1 stories. Another site I was on is only interested in pics rather than my wordy, flowery, lengthy dissertations on the joys of buying Corvette replicas.
Ready? OK.....
So, I got one each of the 1:18 ZR1 in blue and red. Diecastfast seemed like the best (and earliest) option as far as price and reasonable shipping cost. Very nice product for the money. I'd have to say as good as any of the non Autoart companies out there. Scale good, detail good, true to real car (not like the C6 Z06's in various smaller scales with the over size tires and comic book wheels). Nice effect for the carbon fiber roof and ground effects. Sure, I could nit-pick over a few "fit" details where doors meet body, but again, nothing less quality than a Welly ,Maisto, Motormax, or HotWheel 1:18. If they came out with other colors, I'd buy them at the price. And NO RETAIL STORES have them yet, so it's kind of cool to have gotten the latest, greatest, coolest new Vette replica on the market. Good job Jada. The way things are going in the diecast business, it may be that Jada may have figured out a way to make larger scale cars available at reasonable prices.
THEN..... yesterday...... I pick up the newspaper circular for Target. I flip in two pages and I'm hit with a rather large picture of a blue ZR1 front end staring at me. One sale: 1:10 scale ZR1 remote controll for only $20 bucks. 30 minutes to grab coffee and keys and I'm doing 70 in a 55 zone for about 18 miles. They had them in stock. They had blue and black! They were BIG! Even though they were "toys" they looked damn good! No, I don't plan on running them. Yes, I plan on displaying them. They look THAT GOOD! Sure, the windows are blacked out - but it dosen't matter.... The finish looks good and the look is great!
Turns out it was a special deal made available to Target only (sticker on the box.) Of course I got both colors. They even did a good job on the carbon fiber effects on it! So, that's my up to the minute stories on ZR1 replicas. I realize the big ones aren't diecast, but it's still a collectable. Especially when it's been rumoured that real ZR1 production might be stopped for an unkown period.
Yeah, super sweet car I would love to have a model of. Says they delayed it until early 2009. Looks like it won't be on my Christmas wish list.

The only versions delayed are the 1:24 and 1:64. 1:18 are currently available. The bigger remote toy is available at Target stores only for now.
