Not really into collecting die-cast, but need info on a couple of pieces I came across.
One is a Dale Earnhardt Sr. AC Delco #3 from the exhibition race in Suzuka, Japan back in the 90's. Box says it's a GM dealer only promo and is numbered.
The other is a high quality Action Racing Collectables "Salute the Troops" 2008 edition that I won on a radio call-in show.
Anybody know anything about these items?
Thanks

I'm not a bigtime expert, but I do know quite a few folks who bought their weight in diecast Nascar, some of whom even invested in dealerships as a business venture. Ninety percent of them are gone now, most lost their money as well.
To be brief, the best idea is 'buy what you want, keep what you like, but don't plan to retire on the resale values! The market was saturated a few years ago after all the duplication set in. How many Gordon fans REALLY wanted (or could afford to buy) models of 20 different paint schemes in one season? Many dealers went broke under the weight of the marketing decisions made by the model compnies and licensing agents.
IMO you do have a couple of neat pieces, and Dale Sr. will have value for years to come, but the cars are, in the end, worth only what someone will pay for them...

Thanks, I was beginning to wonder if anybody was here. You're right about stuff like this being worth what somebody's willing to pay. I got into die-cast very briefly during Richard Petty's "fan appreciation tour" (remember the new car for every race?), but quickly realized that I'd need to be independently wealthy to own one of everything.
These are just a couple of pieces I've got hanging around that seemed like they'd have some collectable value. Where I live (Mooresville, NC), the market is flooded with this stuff, so I thought I'd try reaching out.
Thanks again, and happy collecting!
This place does get a little empty, doesn't it?
I acn identify with what you're saying... 'percieved value' depending on 'condition' can be a cruel thing when the value drops as much as Nascar die cast values have.
I recieved my first 1/18th scale diecast as a Christmas gift from some friends maybe 15 years ago, a Petty Pontiac that still holds a prominent place in my stuff. I recently snagged a few Franklin Petty cars but since I display the two scales apart from one another, there is little or no relation between the two displays of 'Pettymobilia'... Since I have no particular fondness for the Franklins, do I sell them for 'no money', trade them off, or keep them?
As a freelance automotive writer I recieve more than a few samples from various die cast companies, and I've hung on to some less-than-ideal items simply because I had promised to use them in print. I've recently placed some of my less-favorite items in Muscle Car Review, with more coming in the Car Room Magazine and a couple of others, but now that they're in print I'm not all that anxious to get rid of them!
Go figure...
I'm into earnhardt sr. diecast and if its the 1996 1:24 scale car with the red stripe on the rocker panel and the box has Japanese writing on it, of course it is valuable. I got one of these, and I would price it 75-100, but i'm no expert,
