Hi all...I have an american muscle black 1973 or 1974 black trans am....I want to remove the body to paint the interior and remove the wheels to replace them with aftermarkets....Can anyone help me on removing these parts....Has anyone tried this before?....Thanks....

Matt
Mostly depends on Scale. Nail Polish Remover works great on 1/18 and 1/24 scale cars for removing wheels, and Steel Wool mixed with Hoppe's #9 Gun Cleaner (Hoppe's available at Walmart, and Wool available at hardware store) removes paint extremely well. Make sure you don't get the Hoppe's on your clothes, or else they will stink (not really a problem if You don't the smell/can get them in the wash in the next 24 Hours)

hope this helps!

I too have a ERTL Amerian Muscle 1:18 GTO. Is it possible to dissassemble the car in the sense of removing upper and lower halves to access the interior to remove front and rear seats?

Also, is it possible to remove the wheels?

Car in photo has incorrect wheels/tires and red interior. I can paint the interior and source correct wheels/tires from another 1:18 car

Thanks.
No guarantees about the GTO bud Sad. Just follow what I said earlier about wheels and paint if needed. I've never had much luck removing body parts off of 1:18 scale cars Sad

Where would one apply the Nail Polish to remove the wheels? I mean at the inner hub?
try not to soak the axle in nail polish. If you can get a cotton ball or a q-tip (earswab) around the axle behind the spokes, that would be ideal (if they were soaked in Nail Polish Remover)

Best of luck!

I was also advised to remove the tires first. Is this correct?
Yes, forgot about that. Rubber+nail polish remover= BAD

Best of Luck!
