Lighted glass display cases for diecast cars

I am seriously considering having some custom cabinets built for a wall in my living room at home but am a little intimidated at the cost, especially if I ever sell the house it might actually be something the new owner considers a liability. I bought some all glass lighted boxes at IKEA. Do you guys have any other ideas for display cases?

RE: Lighted glass display cases for diecast cars

I know a guy who buys used glass displays from a retail supply house. They look neat, if you're willing to devote alot of room to them. They tend to overtake the room. In my opinion, the acrylic displays that are designed strictly for 1/18 and 1/24 scale models are too expensive and are not clear enough - nothing like glass.

I like the fact yours isn't the plain wood looking type, I think the darker grey/silver color is a lot better looking than the wood version. Did you paint yours??? James

I am always looking Steering Rigs!!

I thought the same thing. The dark color doesn't look like a cheap shelf, plus the contrast on the models is better.

The color is Espresso. It is a very dark brown, almost black. It took about 45 minutes to put the first one together, after that it was about 30. The shelves are removable so if you have some other taller collectibles, you can arrange them to fit.
