Matco Tools Exclusive Muscle Cars by Ertl
Anyone seen one of these in person?
http://diecastmusclecars.com/71superbee.htm
They have alot of them on Diecastmusclecars. Just wondering how they are packaged. They seem pricey but with the shortage of good 1/18 muscle car diecast, I am thinking of "biting" on one of the Mopars!

They are very detailed. I received one Superbee and three R/T Chargers last night thanks to "brown". Great cars. They DO have some inaccuracies. The worst of which is the body line that runs between the front and rear wheel along the bottom. It should be a continuous line, but they have the front and rear lines actually crossing. I have read how extensive the process of making these cars is and supposedly all sorts of measurements and pictures and mock ups are made, yet they miss something so obvious. I am a HUGE Charger fan and perhaps that makes me more critical. Overall, I am pleased and have waited for YEARS for this body style to be released. I have 6 more variations on the way. I'll post pics if you're interested. Oh, they are packaged WITHOUT a base. They are surrounded by clear plastic the suspends them in the box.

Hey Aerovette,
That's suprising that they would cross the body line like that. My guess it that they just upgraded an existing mold that contained the error? Even still, that's disappointing. I'd love to see pictures. Where did you get the models?
Thanks...

I don't think there is an existing mold. It is a body style that has never been produced. I am betting that all parts EXCEPT the body are from the 71 Roadrunner/GTX though. I ordered from diecastmuscle.com, except for the Matco "go Green" version that I purchased on ebay (I have not received it yet)
I'll post some pictures tomorrow if I get any taken tonight.

Thanks for the pictures and info. I see some cars on Diecastmuscle I like - what has your experience been in ordering from them? Do they package good?

The original boxes are placed in anotherbox with foam peanuts around them. These cars arrived just fine. The outside box was a bit frayed, but everything inside was perfect. Mine came 4 to a box.

Ok, I feel like a DOOFUS now. I went in to my archive of pics and realized that in 71 the body lines DO cross at the door. the 73 and 74 cars DO NOT. In all my years of being a Charger fan, I never knew this detail. My humble apologies to the diecast designers. They got it right.
